What do we do?

The general practitioner is your first contact point for any medical issue. Most problems your doctor will be able to cure and solve together with you. If necessary he/she can refer you with the correct information towards a more specialised doctor or caregiver.

You can attend your general practitioner for (among others):
  • diagnosis and treatment of acute infections in adults and children (for example flu, sinusitis, ear infection, lung infection, urinary tract infection, skin infections, stomach and intestin infections,...)
  • follow-up and treatment of chronical illness (for example high blood pressure, heart disease, astma, diabetes, disease of the thyroïd gland, intestinal disease, artrosis,...)
  • first care for urgent issues (high fever, loss of conciousness, convulsions, heavy pain in the belly, pain on the chest, allergic reactions, shortness of breath,...)
  • follow-up of newborns, baby's and children, vaccinations, questions of education
  • gynaecological examination and PAP smear, advice on anticonception, placement of intra-uterine devices,...
  • follow-up of pregnancy, in co-operation with gynaecologist and possibly with midwife
  • preventive examinations (coloncancer, breastcancer, heart-and vessel-diseases,...)
  • help with cessation of tabacco, also guidance for adjustments in lifestyle (obesitas, sedentarity, handling stress and trauma,...)
  • guidance for psychological problems (depression, burn-out, fear, hyperventilation, relational problems, addiction, mourning processing,...) if necessary in co-operation with psychologist and/of psychiater and/or physiotherapist
  • electrocardiogram (movie of the heart) and spirometry (longfunction examination)
  • sport medical examination
  • orthopedic problems (back, joints, muscles)
  • taping and splinting for distorsions
  • treatment of warts with liquid nitrogen
  • woundcare and wound adhesion
  • little operations (taking away fat tumors, cysts, naevi, age wrath, ingrowing toe nails,...)
  • treatment and follow-up of skin diseases (eczema, acne, psoriasis,...)
  • travel advice and vaccination
  • accompaniment in the life ending phase, palliative care
